Cortec Coated Products Recognized by Wisconsin DNR with Recycling Excellence Award
Cortec employees show-off their Recycling Excellence Award from the Wisconsin DNR, which annually recognizes outstanding recycling and waste minimization initiatives.
Dec. 11, 2023 – Cortec® Coated Products (CCP) announced that its manufacturing division in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, has won a Wisconsin Recycling Excellence Award. CCP is one of 11 organizations that received the award this year from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in recognition of outstanding efforts to recycle and reduce waste.
The Wisconsin DNR recognizes outstanding recycling and waste minimization efforts through its annual Recycling Excellence Award program.
CCP’s award falls under the category of “Projects and Initiatives”, which recognizes a defined project or initiative that increases materials recycled or diverted, and/or improves the cost-effectiveness of a recycling/diversion program.
In addition to sourcing most of its paper rolls that are produced with recycled content, CCP’s specialty is to apply a corrosion inhibiting coating that still allows the paper to be recycled after use. This is an important environmental benefit for manufacturers and distributors that use Cortec VpCI® (vapor corrosion inhibitor) paper to package and protect metal parts in a variety of industries.
CCP’s coating technology is also an advantage for the company’s waste handling processes. Converting coated VpCI papers into marketable rolls and different sizes of sheeting inevitably leaves behind a large amount of paper scrap. CCP collects the scrap, compacts it into bales, and sends it to a recycling broker that sorts and resells the scrap to various paper/recycling plants.
Cortec Coated Products is a manufacturer of coated specialty paper, board, and films for the printing and packaging industry.
